Let’s be frank. Despite what everyone says, BEING A STUDENT IS NOT EASY!
And those people who think it is are being ignorant at best and dismissive at worst. From terrible professors to campus living to pressure from parents (let’s not even talk about the First-Year 15! SMH) - students endure a HUGE amount of stress, and yet there are so few effective resources to help you come out on top.
Enter The Student Collective: A digital platform for students working to live their best lives.
Through The Student Collective blog and our social media accounts, you will receive access to different resources, tips, and perspectives that will help you excel in all areas of your life. As you learn to be a good student and do student life efficiently and effectively, you will gain more time and energy to pour into developing your whole self and fulfilling your purpose in this world.
As a part of our digital community, you will have the opportunity to interact with other students and student supporters as we all work together to navigate, demystify, and enhance the student experience. Together we hope to sow seeds of strength, motivation, and accountability that sustain us towards our goals. It takes a village, right?
In the future, we plan to offer 1) an advice column where students can write in with their questions and receive a personalized response, 2) Collective groups where you are matched with similar students in different locations and check in with each other regularly throughout the semester, and 3) one-on-one coaching where you could work with a coach who provides consistent support and feedback to help you achieve your goals.
Most of what I learned about succeeding as a student, having balance in my life, and being an adult I learned after college. What I would give to go back and have a redo!
My wish for you is that you get to do ALL THE THINGS in college. Have late nights with friends and still have that 4.0 GPA. Cheer on your football team and also land a kick-ass job for after graduation. Date. Work out. Spend time with your family. Learn to cook. Save money. Study. Drink coffee. Meet new people. Self-care. Travel. And most importantly, make your bed. (OK.. I know this isn’t THE most important but I have a whole thing about this that I will share one day!)
My point is four years is a long time to spend scrambling! And it’s also a long time to miss out on all of the different parts of your life. College is such a formative time in learning who you are and setting the stage for your future. I want to help you feel empowered to live in your truth and build a life that you are happy with, now and in the future.
I can’t wait for us to get started.
