Hi,
I'm Lizzie
Professor
Former Student (B.A., M.A., Ph.D.)
15+ Years as a fully functioning adult!
(My biggest accomplishment)

I am so happy you're here!

MANY MOONS AGO, I was in the place where you likely find yourself:
a college student trying to figure out my purpose,
going out way too many nights a week,
lifting pizza to my mouth at 4 AM and calling it a workout,
and always waiting until the last minute to do my homework and study for that midterm.
I wanted to live it up, spend time with my friends, and enjoy college - "THE BEST 4 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE."
But, for as much fun as I was having, being disorganized and constantly scrambling didn't sit right with my soul and I didn't always feel like myself. I craved structure and routine and productivity, and I missed the parts of myself that were more than just being a college student. I missed being a daughter, a sister, a member of my church, and a contributor to my community. It wasn’t until later when I returned to graduate school that I realized - you can be and do all of the things EVEN while being a student.
So I am here to tell you what I wish someone had told me when I was in college...
Your life is what YOU make it. You are in control.
Through this space I hope to guide and inspire you to live purposefully and intentionally, abide by my personal motto of work hard, play hard, and make space to grow into the best version of yourself both in the present and for the future.
Join me for academic and personal advice, organization and time management tips, life hacks, inspiration and accountability for keeping balance and curating fulfillment in your life. Through this platform, you will also find a community of students and student supporters who are all working to navigate school while living their best lives.
At Student Collective, we aim to be collaborative, inclusive, responsive, and empowering to one another. I recognize that being a student can be so amazing and so challenging all at the same time. It’s the best and it’s the worst. But I believe if we are efficient and intentional with our time and energy, we can reclaim what is ours - our lives, our identities, our wellbeing, our purpose and our joy.
So let me be the first to say -
I see you. You matter. Your struggles matter. Your successes matter.
And I am rooting for you.
